Wunschgericht: guests build their dish themselves

With the Wunschgericht your guest builds a dish on your menu step by step: Basis wählen, Brot wählen, Zutaten wählen, Gewürze wählen with Gewürzmenge and Schärfegrad, plus extras and a note for the kitchen. Alongside the steps runs a Preisübersicht that updates with every selection, so the guest sees what the combination costs before ordering. You define the amounts yourself, per ingredient and for each additional portion; at checkout the total is recalculated on the server and not in the browser of the guest.

The steps your guest goes through

The guest decides one step at a time and always sees the current amount:

  • Basis wählen - what the dish is built on
  • Brot wählen - if you offer this step
  • Zutaten wählen - from the register you have maintained
  • Gewürze wählen - together with Gewürzmenge and Schärfegrad
  • Extras and a short note for the kitchen

You decide which steps appear. The Wunschgericht only becomes visible once you have enabled it and defined its steps; without that setup your digital menu shows your regular dishes only. If your offer changes while someone is still building, the page asks that guest to reload the selection.

Why the price is still correct

Every ingredient, every extra and every additional portion has a price that you enter - there are no automatically generated prices. The guest sees a clear minimum price for the dish, and Eine Portion mehr adds the amount you stored je weitere Portion. The Preisübersicht calculates live; the final total is checked again on the server by the online ordering system at checkout, together with discounts, delivery and deposit (Pfand) amounts.

The Zutatenregister: set it up once

In the panel you maintain everything your guests may choose from under Wunschgericht → Zutatenregister: bread, meat, vegetables, sauces, spices. If the ingredient detection (Zutatenerkennung) is switched on, the register reads the ingredients of your menu in automatically, assigns them to a category in the background and suggests allergens; uncertain cases are marked KI unsicher so that you can check them with one click. If the detection is off, you create ingredients by hand. Your own assignment takes precedence: once saved, the detection no longer overwrites it. The Wunschgericht becomes visible to guests only once a valid published version exists.

Labelling: what the guest sees, what you must check

Allergen and additive details that were entered automatically are suggestions. Until you have checked and confirmed them, your guest sees a notice on the dish stating that the details were entered automatically and may be inaccurate, together with the request to ask the staff. If nothing at all is stored, Angaben bitte beim Personal erfragen appears. The labelling is therefore carried through and shown to the guest - checking the content remains your task. How the automatic pre-filling works is described under Label allergens automatically, and the mandatory details themselves are explained in Allergens & additives.

Without the Wunschgericht: variants, extras, selection groups

If your dishes are fixed and the guest is only meant to make individual decisions, you map that directly in the dish:

  • Variants (e.g. sizes) with their own price each; the menu then shows „Ab …“ and the base price (Grundpreis) is no longer displayed.
  • Extras as options with a surcharge; if an extra costs nothing, it appears as „Kostenlos“.
  • Selection groups with clear rules: Pflicht, Wähle 1, Wähle 2–4, Wähle bis zu 3 or Beliebig. When the limit is reached, the page reports Maximale Auswahl erreicht. From about five options onwards the guest gets a searchable selection field.
  • „Bitte ohne …“: the guest taps an ingredient they do not want; the cart and the receipt then read, for example, „ohne Zwiebeln“. This works for dishes whose ingredients you have stored.

Setting up these options is described step by step in Prices, variants, extras & selection groups. Which of them are available to you may differ depending on how your restaurant is set up.

Everything stays editable in the cart

In the cart the guest sees every line with size, extras and „ohne …“ and can change it via Extras bearbeiten, Zusatzoptionen bearbeiten or Zutaten bearbeiten, copy a line via Artikel duplizieren or delete it. If something about your offer has changed in the meantime, the page checks the cart before checkout and reports Deine Bestellung hat sich geändert before payment.

Who benefits from this?

Kitchens where almost every order is a special request: doner and shawarma, burgers, bowls, salads, filled breads. There the Wunschgericht replaces the long phone call in which the guest explains the combination and the price is estimated at the end - the kitchen receives an exact description instead, and the amount is fixed beforehand. If you mainly sell fixed dishes and only want to map sizes, sides or extras, variants, extras and selection groups are enough and you do not need the Wunschgericht.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests build their own dish?

Yes. With the Wunschgericht the guest selects Basis, Brot, Zutaten and Gewürze with Schärfegrad as well as extras, step by step, and sends that combination straight through as an order. The condition is that you have enabled the Wunschgericht and defined its steps.

How is the price of a self-built dish calculated?

The price results from the amounts you stored for Basis, Zutaten, Extras and each additional portion. The Preisübersicht updates with every selection, and at checkout the total is recalculated on the server.

Can the guest leave out an ingredient?

Yes. Using „Bitte ohne …“ the guest taps an ingredient they do not want; the cart and the receipt then show the dish as „ohne Zwiebeln“, for example. This is possible for dishes whose ingredients you have stored in the panel.

Do I have to sort every ingredient in the Zutatenregister myself?

Not if the ingredient detection (Zutatenerkennung) is switched on: the register then reads the ingredients of your menu in automatically, assigns them to a category and suggests allergens; uncertain cases are marked KI unsicher. If the detection is off, you create ingredients by hand. Your own assignment takes precedence and is not overwritten afterwards.

Are allergens shown with the Wunschgericht?

The allergen and additive details are carried through and shown to the guest. Details entered automatically count as a suggestion: until you have checked them, the guest sees the notice that they may be inaccurate, along with the request to ask the staff.

Do I need the Wunschgericht if I already use extras and selection groups?

Not necessarily. Extras and selection groups are enough when your dishes are fixed and the guest only chooses size, side dish or additional options. The Wunschgericht pays off when the guest is meant to build the dish from scratch.

What happens if I remove an ingredient while a guest is ordering?

If your offer changes during the composition, the page asks the guest to reload the selection. If the item is already in the cart, the page checks it again before checkout and reports Deine Bestellung hat sich geändert.
