Setting the unit price, deposit & age restriction correctly

What is this? Three mandatory details on a dish that must be displayed in a legally correct way. For an overview, see Legally compliant menu & labelling. You set them on the dish (Pricing step).

Unit price (§ 4 PAngV)

  • For pre-packaged goods with a stated quantity, enter the content and the unit (l/ml/kg/g). The menu will then show, for example, „(X.XX €/l)“.
  • The unit price appears only in the menu, not in the cart, and not for dishes with variants. For prepared dishes, leave it empty.

Deposit (§ 1 (4) PAngV, § 33 VerpackG)

  1. Enter a deposit amount on the dish. The menu will then show a separate line plus X.XX € deposit – it is not included in the price.
  2. By default, the deposit is only a note and is not added to the order total. Whether the deposit is additionally charged (i.e. included in the calculation) can be enabled in the business details. Only then does the deposit affect the total – and influence whether a receipt can become an invoice (see Receipt or invoice?).
This feature is set up differently depending on the restaurant.

Age restriction (§ 9 JuSchG)

  • An age restriction from 16 / from 18 can only be set if you have specified alcohol sales in the business details.
  • If the cart contains such a dish, the guest must confirm their age before completing the order; the actual proof is provided on handover.
